What sort of work?Right now, we have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Controller to join our Private Client department.
In this role you will work with the Business Manager in taking full responsibility for the total debtor ledger. This will include:
* Controlling and monitoring the firms outstanding accounts and reduce firms debtor figure.
* Liaising with Partners, Fee Earners and Clients regarding outstanding debts and other financial hygiene matters.
* Dealing with queries arising from contact with Client.
* Regular reporting to the Business Manager regarding outstanding debts and any other financial issues.
* Producing aged debt reports, risk reports and other ad hoc reports regarding outstanding debts as required.

Who are we looking for?We are looking for somebody who will understand our values and thrive in our culture. The role will be based in our Exeter office. The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience of working in a credit control/collections role, preferably within a legal or professional services environment.
* Whilst a formal qualification is not essential, the ability to demonstrate a good working knowledge of credit management practices and an understanding of debt recovery processes in England & Wales is essential.
* Good understanding of GDPR.
* Excellent knowledge of Excel.
* Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
Other skills required include:
* Strong interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all levels (written and verbal).
* Effective problem solving and good negotiation skills.
* Good analytical skills.
* A commercial, pro-active and professional approach to work.
* Excellent organisational skills, demonstrable examples of multi-tasking and methodical approach towards workloads and an ability to work under pressure and juggle competing priorities.
* Ability to work within a team and to communicate with all levels across the Firm
* Must be self-motivated, committed to working towards goals with strong enthusiasm and career commitment.
* Understand the importance of confidentiality and use of discretion.
* Must be flexible, successfully adapting to changing demands and conditions.
* Demonstrate self-confidence, initiative and be an innovative thinker.
