The successful candidate will provide leadership, training, and development to hourly personnel by managing the process flow, resources and workforce to meet and exceed established budgets and performance objectives.
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent in this full-time role, the successful candidate will lead a maintenance crew of Millwrights, Electricians, Welders, and Contractors. Higher consideration will be granted to those who have previous experience in the wood remanufacturing sector in a Sawmill, Planer Mill, or with forest products.
Functions and Responsibilities:
* Achieving maintenance goals with the highest regard for employee safety;
* Supporting troubleshooting & observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are met;
* Managing department costs in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost; developing and educating key metrics;
* Maintenance planning, planning non-emergency maintenance, coordinating PM routes;
* Effectively communicating goals and/or instructions;
* Managing conflicts;
* Supervising weekend maintenance and cleanup personnel;
* Maintenance of sawmill equipment (including but not limited to De-Barkers, Gang Edgers, Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker, Conveyors, Chippers, Blowers, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems);
* Ensuring safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA), Safety Audits);
* Creating and planning improvement projects;
* Managing parts with our purchaser;
* Scheduling and attendance;
* Periodic weekend coverage;
* Inspecting completed work.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
* Prior Journeyman Electrician or Millwright;
* Proficient in Microsoft Office;
* Well organized;
* Minimum of five years (plus) of industrial experience;
* Leadership and communication skills;
* Two or four-year degree preferred.
Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Travel Required
Yes. <10% expected travel. Must be able to travel via car and air when required.
