Bucksport Regional Health Center, located along the beautiful coast of Maine is seeking a full-time Dentist.
Job Description
The Dentist diagnoses and treats problems with a patient’s teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth; also provides advice and instruction on taking care of teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts a comprehensive oral evaluation, including oral cancer assessment.
2. Examines teeth, gums, and related tissues.
3. Uses dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic equipment to evaluate dental health and diagnose diseases or abnormalities.
4. Formulates a plan of treatment for the patient's teeth and mouth tissue.
5. Uses masks, gloves, and safety glasses to protect themselves and their patients from infectious diseases.
6. Administers treatments which may include cavity detection, prevention and treatment; repair/replacement of broken or missing teeth, crowns, root canals, tooth extraction, teeth whitening, veneers, and cosmetic dentistry.
7. Administers anesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced by patients during procedures.
8. Uses air turbine and hand instruments, dental appliances, and surgical implements.
9. Advises and instructs patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, and oral health care services.
10. Refers patients for advanced dental care or surgery as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and sit; prolonged standing is required. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel dental instruments, as well as operation of a standard computer keyboard; reach with hands and arms and talk, see, and hear. Eye-hand coordination and finger and manual dexterity required. The employee must regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, including assist with moving patients, as well as bend, stoop, stretch, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work is performed primarily in a typical dental office environment. Noise level is usually quiet. Potential exposure to hazardous and infectious materials, including blood borne pathogens.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:
Experience and Skill Requirements:
* Prior experience as a licensed dentist strongly preferred.
* Computer experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software products required.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other patients, employees, and the public.
* Ability to communicate and present information.
* Ability to read, interpret, and apply dental policies and procedures.
* Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
* Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
Education Requirements:
* Licensed Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) required.
* Licensed as a Dentist in the State of Maine.
