A pupil referral unit in Workington, West Cumbria are seeking a teaching assistant to support pupils within Key Stage 3, with the role commencing in June 2024.
The school provides a specialist learning environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties ( SEMH ), and class sizes are small - with generally 5-10 in each class.
The school are ideally looking for someone with experience of supporting pupils in an SEN or PRU setting, and are able to support pupils who demonstrate challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will demonstrate resilience and confidence when developing relationships with SEMH pupils.
The school are also willing top consider candidates without experience of working in a specialist SEN school or PRU setting who may have transferable skills, for example supporting adults with additional needs in care/ support work settings or from sports coaching with young people.
The school require a teaching assistant to start from June 2024, on an ongoing, full-time basis until December 2024, with potential of permanent roles becoming available in 2025. Part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate.
The role will involve working school hours from 8.30 - 3.30pm, with rates of pay available from £84.50 - £95 per day, dependant upon experience.
