Retail area support manager
£28,000 - £30,000
Reports to: Area manager
Department: Trading
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time 35 hours per week
Location: Home-based (travel required). This role covers areas across parts of London. The successful candidate is required to live on patch.

We’re looking for an inspiring area support manager to join Cancer Research UK’s trading team. You’ll be acting as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, supporting the Area Manager and the area team to maximise income through people, resources and stock.

What will I be doing?
1. Playing an integral part in the achievement of key performance indicators across the area. These include income, expenditure budgets, processing targets, average selling price, sell through rates, fundraising and customer service.
2. Supporting the commercial running of your area and making commercial decisions based on data.
3. Being aware of trends on the high street, and amongst charity retailers, and applying that knowledge and learning to your area.
4. Supporting the Area Manager and area teams in areas such as recruitment, development, retention, performance management, equality and diversity and fundraising.
5. Managing stock management and stock initiatives across the area. This includes generating quality donated goods, stock selection and distribution and pricing to maximise income.
6. Assisting with the implementation of national volunteer recruitment campaigns and supporting other divisional and national projects.
7. Deputising for the Area Manager as required.
What skills are you looking for?
1. A collaborative and successful retail manager.
2. Comfort working within targets and motivating others to achieve those targets.
3. Commercial awareness with great business judgement.
4. The ability to build networks and influence.
5. Adaptability in changing situations, including being able to work effectively independently.
6. Experience of leading and performance managing a team of people.
7. And ideally experience of working in, or an understanding of, fashion, homeware or gifts.

This role involves travel across the region, the successful applicant must live within a reasonable distance from the region and have their own access to transport. Travel costs will be reimbursed in line with Cancer Research UK’s travel and expenses policy.
