Senior Support Worker
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in achieving objectives and supporting the care of children and young people.
* Support and supervise a staff team to meet the needs of young people.
* Plan shifts, allocate resources, and ensure smooth operations.
* Lead and manage direct work with children and young people.
* Chair children’s meetings and facilitate consultations.
* Promote equal opportunities and challenge discriminatory practices.
Staff Management:
* Supervise staff, provide support, and manage duties.
* Plan and oversee staff shifts and duties.
* Offer 1:1 supervision and contribute to staff development.
* Support recruitment, induction, and retention of staff.
* Address staff performance issues and assist with management investigations.
General Duties:
* Ensure the implementation of care plans and maintain records.
* Assist with training and development for staff.
* Manage resources, including finances and company vehicles.
* Ensure adequate staffing levels and compliance with procedures.
* Deputize for the Registered Manager when needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Secondary education with good literacy and numeracy.
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
* Experience in supervising staff and working with young people with challenging behaviour.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and care standards.
* Ability to manage teams, communicate effectively, and motivate staff.
Desirable:
* Management or supervisory qualifications.
* Driving license and experience providing on-call support.
