Secondary Teaching Assistant
Are you looking to support students on a 1:1 basis who struggle with their learning? Do you have a passion for helping children achieve?
Zen Educate is looking for a teaching assistant to work with two students in year 7 that have a low learning ability and need extra support. There are some speech and language barriers, and one student has low self-esteem. We are looking for someone that has experience in supporting children with special needs, can approach students with lots of understanding and empathy, but also be able to challenge where possible.
The secondary school, which is in south Bristol, is one of the smaller schools in Bristol and teaches students up to GCSE, so has no sixth form. The school fosters a family feel and an all-round positive work culture. Students are described as being well-behaved.
Hours are 8:30-3:30, Monday to Friday, and term time only.
Requirements
1. Experience in working with children, ideally in a school environment.
2. Experience supporting with special needs, specifically speech and language and mental health would be desirable.
3. Strong communication skills with the SENCO, teachers, and parents.
4. Reliable, and able to commit to the work taken on; students can find change stressful, so it's important that we find someone dependable with minimal absences.
5. Flexible to the needs of the school and can work to students' education health care plan and ensure that they are working towards their learning objectives.
