Our client has a brand-new Staff opportunity for a Materials Category Lead / Procurement
This position is for the new import/export Terminal in Grangemouth.
The position is only open to UK citizens.
Purpose:
To source, tender, negotiate, place contracts and orders for the procurement of materials and services across the Terminal, achieving best value and managing risk.
Contracts will vary in discipline and value, ranging from £50K to £500K.
Experience required:
* Determine the optimal contract type to deliver value and outcomes for the business.
* Verify requirements and scope, eliminating unnecessary costs.
* Conduct robust and timely tenders.
* Ensure purchase orders and contracts adhere to business processes with approved supply chain.
* Own the order delivery process and expedite as needed.
* Understand the supply market, including main suppliers and contractors.
* Assess business risks and opportunities with supply chain.
* Provide expert advice on supplier risks, market knowledge, and influence procurement engagement.
* Develop contracts that are legally binding, compliant, mitigate risks, and ensure supplier performance.
* Identify and maintain a database of competent, accredited suppliers suitable for the Terminal.
* Set up price agreements, frameworks, and term contracts.
* Implement strategies to reduce transactions and cycle times.
* Maintain contract knowledge and deliver savings.
* Manage tendering, negotiation, and ensure flexibility without compromising governance.
Required qualifications and experience:
* Degree qualified or equivalent chartered membership in procurement (MCIPS) or Quantity Surveying.
* Experience in purchasing within large, complex construction/manufacturing environments, with a record of delivering cost savings and value engineering.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
* Strong financial understanding of contract cost drivers to demonstrate transparency and value.
* Ability to plan and prioritize workload to support terminal needs.
* Ability to draft contracts that are compliant and support business needs.
