Working Hours: Continental shift pattern (4 on, 4 off) working 12-hour shifts, rotating between days & nights each block, which will also include working weekends and bank holidays. This will average to 42 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Main Accountability
The Manufacturing Technician (MT) role directly influences line performance through managing their zones to achieve Spark DMS targets. Working with a team of General Operatives (GOs) and collaborating with the wider line team of MTs, Shift Technicians, and Operations Team leaders to understand line performance, prioritize actions, and proactively apply improved performance specification (IPS), good manufacturing practices (GMP), safety, and maintenance standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Coach the GOs in Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Spark DMS, GMP, and immediate problem-solving to reinforce their training.
* Responsible for holding the GOs and GSOs in their zone accountable to the expected standards in Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality, IPS, GMP, and performance across the multiple zones they are accountable for.
* Co-ordinate and prioritize activities and resources (across their zones) to ensure efficient utilization.
* Ensure that the zone standards are maintained through continual auditing and verification. Identify gaps and build capability in the zones through training and coaching using SOP and DMS processes.
* Utilize problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve root causes.
* Generate data and identify trends and systemic issues to drive improvement.
* Complete validation of tasks performed by GOs to ensure performance in the zones.
* Responsible for prescribed routine maintenance activity; basic fault finding, first fixes, calibrations, and running inspections including impression-based maintenance. Support and assist the GOs in replacing consumable parts, filters, sanitizing, lubricating, checking for wear, rebuilding, and restarting a machine. Work with STs on engineering day activities.
* Identify & escalate continual improvement opportunities to the standard ways of working (Spark DMS, SOPs, etc.).
* Ensure the Maintenance Management system (SAP) is utilized effectively.
* Facilitate Spark DMS completion in the zone and proactively contribute in the shift DDS meeting.
* Collaborate with other MTs and OTLs to ensure end-to-end line performance (within manufacturing environment).
* 90% of time should be focused on “Maintain the Standard” and 10% on “Improve the Standard”.
* Proactively escalate to the STs and shift leadership team for assistance if issues occur outside of expected capability or role remit.
* Identify, coach, and escalate where required people performance/behavior gaps.
* Drive actions based on numerical data and/or machine performance.
Qualifications
What we are looking for:
* Experience in a manufacturing environment and/or an autonomous role with some people coaching responsibilities.
* Desirable to have NVQ Level 2, GCSE grades A-C, O Level or equivalent.

* Able to follow flow diagrams and interpret equipment manuals.
* Understand and be compliant with GCS controls (as applicable to role).
* PC literate in MS Office, Scada, SAP.
