To work within the IPC team, facilitating all aspects of the monitoring, prevention, audit, surveillance, investigation, and control of healthcare infection. To lead on all aspects of the IPC service, as delegated by the IPC Matron, defining the way in which to achieve required results. To provide advice and support, in line with Trust policies, to Trust employees, patients, families and carers and members of the public in all matters relating to infection prevention and control including the decontamination of clinical and patient care equipment not suitable for automatic reprocessing. To act as a facilitator and change agent to support and enable Trust and other allied staff to understand and implement the need for change in current practice. To be aware of and act upon, as appropriate, any current issues and research findings relating to IPC in clinical practice and support services. Ensure that relevant developments are effectively communicated to the appropriate Trust staff. To initiate the undertaking of research, the interpretation and critical analysis of findings and the application of research findings to practice.
