As a Laser Welding Technician, you will perform hands-on production laser welding of Li-Ion battery Modules using an automated laser welding system. You will report to the Team Leader and the Welding Engineering Manager and will work closely with LV and HV build technicians, as well as testing and battery systems engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily autonomous checks of the laser welding system, performing laser power measurements using a Primes calorimeter, and cleaning/replacement of precision optical components on the galvanometric welding head.
2. Preparing Modules and loading them into the laser welding system, paying close attention to Module build quality and liaising with the Quality department to resolve build issues.
3. Operating a 4-axis CNC laser welding machine and carrying out manual intervention on the CNC system as required. Visual inspection of weld geometry and locations during the automated cycle.
4. Fixture setup and optimisation of weld paths.
5. Working to and assisting in the development of Standard Operating Procedures.

9. Ensuring all production and weld quality data is accurately recorded.
10. Working with Welding Engineers and the Welding Engineering Manager to develop new welding procedures.
11. Reporting issues within the work area and escalating them to the Team Leader.
12. Other reasonable requests made by the Company or your Line Manager.
