Job Description
Our client in the aerospace industry is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the global software development team within the Avionics group. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading engineering activities, organisational capability development, and implementing disciplined engineering processes.
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
* Leading a team of professional and technical engineering staff to provide software development for new product development, iR&D, and product support teams across the division.
* Organising and building talent within the Avionics team, creating opportunities for growth and development of the engineering team.
* Improving the efficiency of software engineering functions through creative organisational management and effective use of engineering tools.
* Driving consistency and best practices across the organisation with respect to product documentation, design standards, and related material specifications.
* Assuring that product designs are competitive on a global basis with respect to quality, reliability, and cost.
* Working with Aerospace Group level Centres of Excellence, including Pune, India, for seamless product development, execution process, and organisational capability development.
* Establishing digital processes and experience within the engineering team aligned to the Aerospace Group strategy.
This role requires:
* A degree in Engineering or Software and Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
* Advanced engineering degree or MBA preferred.
* Ideally 8-10 years of experience within the aerospace industry, including experience in software development and verification for the managerial position.
Key skills and qualifications include:
* Experience with software development and verification.
* Knowledge and application of DO-178.
* Embedded C experience is essential.
* Familiarity with Aerospace industry processes and standards is preferred.
* Demonstrated leadership skills, experience with design processes, portfolio and program management skills, knowledge of customer strategies, successful new product introduction experience, and creative/innovative thinking.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
