Position Description
A vacancy exists for the position of EC&I Technician, Carrington Power Station.
Carrington Power Station comprises a 2x440 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine's (CCGT's) and is located near Manchester.
The EC&I Technician will carry out maintenance associated with the Power Plant and its auxiliaries to the highest safety standards and practices.
They will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage, develop and motivate team members. Have a demonstrable ability to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fault finding and maintaining assets in accordance with the technician's specialist technical discipline.
2. Raising and closing work orders, and maintaining accurate maintenance records using the on-site CMMS.
3. Supervising and directing contractors.
4. Writing and implementing procedures and working instructions.
5. Complying with corporate and statutory safety and environmental obligations.
6. Carrying out authorised roles under the safety rules.
7. Liaising and working with other departments as required or directed.
8. Carrying out project work and activities as directed.
9. Being part of an out of hours on call system.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. A minimum of 3 years' experience in Electrical / Control & Instrumentation Maintenance.
2. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of HV/MV/LV electrical systems, C&I hardware and plant automation systems.
3. Ability to organise and prioritise work.
4. Good IT skills.
5. An understanding of Power Generation, mechanical, heavy rotational and pressure systems is desirable.
6. Experience in liaising with relevant statutory bodies and contractors.
7. Experience in project management and/or good planning skills.
Qualifications
A relevant apprenticeship or equivalent.
Location
The successful person will be based in Carrington, near Manchester.
Reporting to
The successful candidate will report to the EC&I Team Leader, Carrington Power Station.
