The Project As a highly experienced Mechanical Site Manager, you will play a key role on a new build industrial development located in Northampton with an M&E value in excess of £12m. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the seamless integration of mechanical systems, while strictly adhering to project specifications and industry regulations. You will oversee resource management, tackle on-site challenges, and enforce rigorous quality control measures, ensuring the project progresses on schedule, stays within budget, and meets the highest standards of excellence. Requirements For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum; SMSTS CSCS / JIB / ECS First Aid (Desirable not essential) It is also essential that you hold the experience below; Demonstrated industry expertise with a proven history of successfully managing mechanical packages in excess of £5m on new build and refurbishment projects. Extensive industry background with over 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Site Manager or a similar role, working for a leading contractor or subcontractor. Experience working on projects within the industrial sector is advantageous however all candidates with a portfolio of managing mechanical packages on medium-large scale developments are of interest Additional skills; Quality assurance Competent IT / software skills In-depth mechanical expertise Impressive leadership and mentoring abilities Capacity to prioritise health and safety effectively Good knowledge of construction laws and regulations Comprehensive understanding of building materials, methods, and practices Knowledgeable of safety protocols and regulations pertaining to finishing tasks Thorough understanding of mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, and plumbing Strong written and verbal communication skills with a thorough meticulous eye for detail The Role Job Title: Mechanical Site Manager Job Type: Long-term freelance Project: £12m new build industrial development Location: Northampton Duration: 10 / 12 Months Reporting to: Visiting Contracts Manager Duties Inductions Toolbox talks Safety briefings Management of subcontractors Perform routine safety audits and site assessments Monitor work to ensure alignment with the project plan and deadlines Handle on-site technical challenges and introduce effective resolutions Track project expenses and manage resources effectively to remain within budget Oversee site operations to ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations Coordinate mechanical works with other trades (electrical, civil, etc.) to avoid conflicts Supervise work quality efficiently, ensuring it aligns with project specifications and standards Coordinate the procurement process for materials and equipment to ensure punctual delivery Review and approve invoices for mechanical work, ensuring contractor payments are processed Apply quality control measures to guarantee that mechanical installations meet design standards Address and resolve any issues with materials, labor, or equipment that may cause project delays Develop cost estimates and anticipate any additional expenses that might occur during the project Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure project goals are aligned Collaborate with design teams to address any discrepancies between the design and site conditions Provide clients with continuous updates, maintaining open communication throughout the project duration Review mechanical work throughout the project to verify it meets building codes and regulatory standards Participate in project meetings to update on the status of mechanical work, timelines, and any potential risks Communicate and update stakeholders on project changes, delays or issues concerning mechanical installations Keep comprehensive records of all mechanical activities, including the work completed, inspections conducted, and issues faced Manage the testing and commissioning procedures for mechanical systems to ensure optimal operation and performance compliance Make certain that workers receive training and adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) This is a long-term freelance position with a competitive rate on offer for the successful candidate.
