Job Description
As a Laboratory Technician, your primary role will be to assist the R&D department in daily tasks that support lab maintenance, good laboratory and manufacturing practices, and the testing of topical medical device formulations. With the support of the Technical Manager and the Head of R&D, you will need to carry out testing and validation to make sure that products meet client expectations, and support with daily lab tasks.
Core Duties:
· Carry out product testing for stability and compatibility, following closely all testing procedures and highlighting any issues to the project Chemist and the Technical Manager.
· Ensure all lab equipment is functioning, used and labelled properly
· Co-ordinate and assist in the management and safe disposal of samples, equipment, packaging, or anything else that may need to be discarded.
· Carry out regular warehouse raw material and equipment stock checks and ensure sufficient levels of raw materials and equipment are maintained within their specified shelf-life, following the warehousing procedure.
· Organise and tidy postage area, ensuring all equipment is available at all time.
· Ensure standards are applied and maintained in the areas of quality, health & safety and environmental impact (lab coats, recycling, etc).
· Assist in samples preparation, filling, labelling and postage to customers.
· Assist in production trials for filling, labelling and shipping finished products.
· Ensuring laboratory is stocked with required equipment such as jars, pipettes, cardboxes, etc, and order or request order if required.
· Assist with the environmental control and other daily equipment servicing requirements of the QMS, reporting any issues to the Lead Technician.
· Ensure the laboratory is in line with Good Laboratory and Good Manufacturing Practices.
· Carry out any other duties of a reasonable nature that may be requested from time to time by the Chemist and the Head of R&D.
Requirements
· A scientific degree (ideally in cosmetic, chemistry or pharmaceutical science)
· Demonstrable experience working in a laboratory environment is required
· Strong analytical skills, proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions
· Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written with great attention to detail
· A first relevant experience in the field of laboratory management is preferred.
· Good self-organisation and time management
· Ability to work as part of a team

· Adaptable and able to work flexibly to meet deadlines and changing priorities.
