Not your average role….
Responsible to the Fleet Manager Haymarket for:
The implementation and monitoring of safe systems of work via Shift Managers and Team Leaders. Oversee site safety and facilities inspection. Ensure that periodic checks are carried out by all managers, review and feedback on these to Fleet Manager at periodic 1 to 1 meeting. Prepare annual fire safety risk assessment and conduct and record annual and quarterly fire safety inspections. Review all quality safety and environmental documentation held on IMS system and construct additional documentation as required.
* Liaise with statutory authorities as required concerning incidents, accidents and private actions as required.
* Lead environmental initiatives and monitor utility use and controls.
* Conduct Health and Safety quarterly inspections alongside union representatives and produce minutes ensuring that actions are produced in a SMART fashion.
* Liaise with Property management department to review infrastructure maintenance, replacement and repair as required.
* Discuss proposed and oversee new build projects at Haymarket Depot.
* Form part of the internal audit team conducting quality safety and environmental audits to the most up to date ISO standards available.
* Lead internal IMS audits around all ScotRail Engineering locations as part of the rolling audit plan. Take part and facilitate in external and internal ISO Quality, Safety and Environmental Audits. Liaise with ScotRail Occupational Safety Team and Head of Engineering team in audits and investigations.
* Conduct, lead, review all accidents, incidents at Haymarket depot as necessary whether involving depot staff or contractors.
* Conduct, lead and review equipment and infrastructure improvements.
* Control contractors via detailed review of method statements and risk assessments.
* Manage and control local Quality, Safety and Environmental processes and procedures. This includes annual reviews, period checks, updating of legislation, Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessments.
What you bring …….
An enthusiastic, highly motivated individual, who is flexible, possesses good communication skills and can work well both individually and within a team.
Previous Engineering Management experience.
Previous experience with Quality Measurement Systems, Integrated Managements Systems, Health, Safety & Environmental Legislation, High-Risk Technical and other investigations will be an advantage.
Applicants must be prepared to achieve NEBOSH general certificate training along with IEMA general certificate training and will require to be trained as a qualified internal quality, safety and environmental auditors.
Hours of work: 35 hours per week. Reference salary £61,558 per annum.

Selection process:
Selected candidates will be invited to a competency-based interview. If successful, the next stage will be a medical examination, drug & alcohol screening. Appointees must submit at least two satisfactory references, Disclosure Scotland clearance and complete a six-month probation period.
