Job Title: Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Leatherhead, Surrey
Working Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our specialists schools in Leatherhead, Surrey. This role is designed for someone who is committed to providing consistent support to students with special educational needs (SEN), including those displaying challenging behaviours. The ideal candidate will be full of patience, resilience, and a strong sense of commitment to helping our students thrive, both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide daily, consistent support to students with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met and helping them engage with their learning.
* Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement tailored learning plans and adjust strategies to suit each student’s unique needs.
* Support students with challenging behaviours, using positive behaviour strategies to manage and de-escalate situations effectively.
* Foster a calm, positive, and inclusive environment in the classroom where all students feel supported and valued.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students, offering encouragement and helping them build resilience and confidence.
* Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to ongoing assessments.
* Assist with behavioural support strategies to help students manage their emotions, impulses, and social interactions in a safe and productive way.
About You:
* A resilient and calm approach, with the ability to stay composed and positive when managing challenging behaviours.
* Experience working with students with SEN, including those who may demonstrate challenging behaviours, is desirable but not essential.
* A genuine commitment to working full-time, building meaningful relationships, and offering consistent support to students.
* Patience, empathy, and flexibility in adapting to the needs of individual students, including those who may struggle with emotional or social difficulties.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both staff and students.
* A proactive attitude, eager to take on new challenges and make a lasting difference in the lives of students.
