We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic midwife to join our Labour Ward Team at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital as a Band 7 Labour Ward Co-Ordinator.
The successful candidate will act as the clinical lead in the day-to-day activity on our busy Labour Ward. They will co-ordinate patient flow, ensuring the efficient running of the service, whilst utilising exceptional interpersonal skills to support junior staff and work collaboratively with all members of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder needs to be clinically excellent and able to positively lead and support midwives to work as autonomous practitioners, placing women/birthing people and their families at the centre of personalised care planning.
Responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of Labour Ward, overseeing the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care focused on improving outcomes and experiences for parents, families and carers.
Ensure safe and effective clinical practice in ensuring own knowledge, skills and competencies are current and act as clinical expert to disseminate specialist skills and knowledge to others.
Manage midwifery and support staff within the clinical area to maintain smooth running of the service.
Enhance women/birthing people’s experience of care and ensure that their needs are placed at the centre of care delivery.
The post-holder is an autonomous practitioner in normal pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period and in the care of neonates and is able to detect abnormal conditions in mother and baby, refer to other qualified health professionals appropriately and undertake emergency measures when required.
