SPEN are currently recruiting a Senior Design Engineer (OHL) to join the SP Manweb Project Team to take ownership of projects of greater value and complexity whilst coaching/mentoring and developing others within the department or project team. Technically, they will be responsible for developing and delivering engineering solutions for networks projects (33 & 132kV) including designs for projects, innovation, effective technical support, advice, coaching and input throughout the lifecycle of a portfolio of projects. What You'll Be Doing As a Senior Design Engineer, you will: Lead in the development of pre-contract design of OHL systems and other associated equipment. Prepare engineering specifications for OHL system designs Drive resolution of statutory, land or other consents regarding OHL routes. Prepare and/or review OHL drawings and technical specifications for construction Ensure OHL system designs are in accordance with current legislation, policies and operational requirements. Lead the technical resolution of site/construction OHL related issues. Represent department or project teams regarding OHL engineering issues, decisions, standards, or industry best practice. Implement, apply and promote CDM and Health & Safety best practice in a design environment. What You'll Bring You will have strong inter-personal and communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills along with the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments, and businesses. To Be Successful, You Will Have Degree in and engineering discipline or equivalent experience. Awareness of UK design codes and standards. Experience using PLS-CADD software. Proven significant experience and knowledge in a responsible position in the area of high voltage OHL networks and associated equipment.
