This is a 1 year fixed term maternity cover. This post holder will provide manufacturing and QC support to the team. The post offers an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to develop their aseptic and organisational skills whilst gaining all-round experience. The post holder will work in partnership with both technicians and radiopharmaceutical scientists, who will provide first-hand support and training. The post-holders are required to work within strict time constraints to extremely high standards of accuracy, with the ability to quickly problem solve when issues arise.
The Radiopharmacy holds both MS and MIA(IMP) licence and provide comprehensive radiopharmaceutical services to both in-house and external hospitals. The operational work of the Radiopharmacy includes manufacturing, dispensing and quality control of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, as well as provision of an In Vitro laboratory service.
Ideally, the applicant would be a registered Pharmacy Technician (GPhC) or hold a suitable degree in a related scientific discipline. Previous experience in Radiopharmacy/aseptics is preferred but not essential. Applicants without prior experience will be considered for a Band 4 position.
• To provide a comprehensive clinical Radiopharmacy service to the Trust and external purchasers.
• To participate in a range of activities associated with routine work of the Radiopharmacy, including the preparation of radioactive medicinal products and performance of selected in vitro laboratory test.
• To demonstrate an extremely high standard of accuracy and safety.

• On a rotational basis, to undertake the routine aseptic production of both diagnostic and therapeutic radioactive medicinal products for clinical use, operating within the terms of Standard Operating Procedures.
• On a rotational basis, to perform a range of in vitro laboratory tests using unsealed sources of radioactivity, operating within the terms of Standard Operating Procedures.
• To calculate results from such tests and enter the confirmed results on to the Hospital Information System. Responsibility for checking results lies with senior staff in the Radiopharmacy.
• To maintain suitable levels of both stock and non-stock items in the Radiopharmacy, as defined in Standard Operating Procedures.
• To dispose of radioactive waste in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• To act as a Radiopharmacy Operator, as defined in the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000.
