Job Details
I am a young woman currently studying at UEA and have several health conditions meaning that I am a manual wheelchair user and require assistance with everyday tasks. I particularly need support in the mornings, with personal care: showering, washing my hair and getting ready for the day, reminding me to take my medications (I often forget). I would also like my PA to support me with preparing nutritious meals and making sure I eat and drink enough. In addition, I would appreciate light support filling out forms and keeping on top of bills and the home. I am a friendly, sociable person and like to access the community. Due to the varying times of my lectures, my PA will need to be flexible around working times, which can be discussed and agreed in advance (although may be subject to change term by term).
I am LGBTQ+ and live with my partner, so it is really important to me that my PA is accepting of the queer community.
In any free time, I like to see my friends, read, craft, listen to BBC Sounds (particularly comedy or the news) and watch or attend stand-up comedy gigs. I also like adaptive sports, like hand cycling, and would like to go swimming more in the future (should I have the right support). I am science-minded and am very friendly but can also be rather blunt and to the point. I have a good (albeit dry) sense of humour and enjoy a laugh. I can be fairly chatty but if I am feeling more unwell, I am often rather reserved and quiet. I can get a little anxious about new places, changes in routine and asking for help when I need it, as well as making phone calls about my health or to people I have not met before, so I would appreciate someone who is understanding with this. Thank you for reading this far!
If you think you would be a good fit please apply!
