About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Finance team as a Financial Accountant.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will be an integral part of the finance team and be involved in all aspects of finance. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our month end processes are completed accurately and timely as well as providing management information and support to Pioneer businesses.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work with some of the fastest growing ventures and varied insurance propositions (e.g. temporary insurance, future of work) within Admiral Group, with unparalleled exposure to senior leadership teams and board-level, as well as the opportunity to collaborate in a high impact function and team.
Role Responsibilities will include:
1. Timely completion of Month-End activities ensuring timely and accurate accounts and producing key management information for stakeholders around the business.
2. Supporting the production of insurance bordereaux issued to our Group subsidiary insurance provider.
3. Preparation of the month end accounts and quarterly Group consolidation submission, including liaison with Group Finance to work through any queries.
4. Developing a good understanding of the activities of the business and a strong working relationship with managers across the entire business, in order to be able to provide financial, numerical and procedural assistance to a variety of departments.
5. Own and manage key balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate and timely reconciliation monthly, as well as investigating any differences.
6. Developing existing control and accounting processes and driving improvements with a view to reduce the time it takes to complete month end activities.
7. Supporting with the identification of accounting processes, controls and MI improvements for new products as appropriate.
8. Providing general support and completing ad-hoc tasks as required by heads of departments across the business in addition to the Financial Controller and Head of FP&A.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
1. Part Qualified or Qualified with experience in a Financial Accounting or Management Accounting role.
2. Experience of accounting / month end processes and a good understanding of internal financial controls.
3. Strong Microsoft Excel skills and large data sets manipulation skills.
4. Desire to probe further into data, pro-active in all aspects of the role.
5. Self-motivator, proactive in all aspects of the role.
6. Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints.
7. Good communication skills - both written and verbal.
8. Strong academic background with strong numeracy and analytical skills.
9. Insurance experience is preferred but not essential.
10. Microsoft Dynamics experience desirable.
