The University of Suffolk Dental Community Interest Company (CIC) is an exciting and innovative social enterprise; it aims to provide high-quality NHS dental services to the population of Suffolk through brand new, state of the art clinical facilities situated on the scenic Ipswich Waterfront. The CIC opened its doors to patients in March 2023. We are a new and innovative Dental Social Enterprise and unique partnership with the University of Suffolk and Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board that truly wants to make a difference to local people in Suffolk, delivering NHS dental care. We have an ambitious vision for the future of the CIC, and we are looking for an exceptional individual to work with the Executive team to manage and develop the Ipswich site, ensure full regulatory compliance and work with external stakeholders to enhance the impact that the social enterprise can have upon the dental health of region. Purpose of the job: The Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of the daily running of the University of Suffolk Dental CIC social enterprise, ensuring that the clinical services are operating at optimal efficiency and working with the COO to ensure that all regulatory and statutory requirements are met. As a key member of the management team, the Operations Manager will also provide strategic support for the business. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the dental service, including staff rosters and ensuring full operational capacity of the clinic.Ensure systems are in place to monitor and evaluate performance against service objectives.Ensure systems are in place to monitor compliance with CQC standards. Ensure all safeguarding requirements are met. Assist in the development, and execute the company operational & business strategy, objectives, and key results. Developing relationships with suppliers & vendors to ensure effective maintenance of equipment and goods & services whilst ensuring value for money. Foster a culture which drives cotinuous improvement & innovation whilst ensuring the delivery of a high quality, responsive clinical service which meets the needs of the local population. Develop expertise and day-to-day operational knowledge of the IT systems that underpin the day-to-day operations. Provide accurate reports and insights to enable strategic decision-making, contributing to the business development plans and evidencing social impact. Engage proactively with service users and develop the service in collaboration with appropriate representatives and the wider community. To act as the Safeguarding Lead for the dental service. To carry out any other duties which are commensurate with this grade and role. Leadership : Contribute and inform the strategic direction of service delivery as consistent with local commissioning intentions. Provide line management responsibility for clinical and non-clinical staff. Undertake recruitment, appraisal, disciplinary, grievance, etc, as required in conjunction with Human Resources. Continually develop, lead and motivate the teams to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency, effectiveness and innovation in the delivery of the patient care. Promote a learning organisation culture, ensuring that effective local systems are in place for coaching and mentoring, resource planning, standard setting, performance management, team and individual learning & development. Financial Management: Manage service budgets on behalf of the COO in conjunction with Finance. Through preparation and submission of regular development plans, ensure that the services receive an appropriate and equitable allocation of resources. Understand and report on the financial implications of contract and legislation changes. Monitor cash-flow, prepare forecasts and reports for the COO. Monitor and reconcile income and expenditure statements through the management accounts. Manage related invoices. Personal/Professional Development : Participate in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development. Participate in any training programme implemented by the Executive team. Effectively manage own time, workload and resources. The duties of this post may vary from time to time as a result of new legislation, changes in technology or policy changes. In this case, appropriate training may be given to the post holder to undertake this new varied work.
