Construction Manager - Utility scale Solar, BESS & Wind
The Opportunity
Our client is a forward-thinking renewable energy developer, delivering large-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects across the UK. As part of their continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the delivery of multiple renewable energy sites.
This role offers the chance to work at the forefront of the clean energy transition, managing projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning & Coordination
Develop and oversee Construction Phase Plans, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
Coordinate materials, logistics, and subcontractors to maintain efficiency on-site.
Conduct pre-construction site assessments, managing site setup and access.
2. On-Site Leadership
Supervise daily construction activities, including groundworks, electrical installations, and structural assembly.
Manage subcontractor teams, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and within deadlines.
Address site challenges, keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
3. Health, Safety & Compliance
Act as Principal Contractor, ensuring adherence to CDM regulations and HSE requirements.
Implement health & safety protocols, conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments.
Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings to promote a strong safety culture.
4. Quality Control & Reporting
Ensure construction activities meet industry best practices and project specifications.
Provide progress updates, track budgets, and flag potential risks to the Project Manager.
5. Resource & Risk Management
Monitor project performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
Allocate workforce, materials, and equipment effectively to optimize efficiency.
What We're Looking For
To be a success in the role you will need to have a proven track record in managing large-scale solar farm construction or similar renewable energy projects.
Strong knowledge of UK construction standards and CDM compliance.
Excellent leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
A passion for delivering high-quality, sustainable energy projects.
