Senior Commissioning Engineer We are looking for an enthusiastic & driven Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our Energy Business to test and commission electrical transmission Substation Control Systems (SCS) from minor modifications and additions through to complete replacements. This role is suitable for existing Commissioning Engineers or Test Engineers with a desire to move into site commissioning activities. The suitable candidate must be able to communicate effectively with the customer, interpret designs (including schedules, drawings, etc.), have an understanding of system engineering design, and be prepared to be involved in and lead site visits for installation and commissioning work. They will also be required to contribute to the creation and development of test & commissioning documentation. Full training a range of Substation Control Systems will be provided by our vastly experienced and knowledgeable team. This position is ideal for someone who has a good grounding in engineering & an appreciation for test/commissioning techniques, who is keen to work on site, and is eager to learn and develop new skills as part of an experienced and committed team. Main Activities: Carry out site acceptance testing/commissioning activities in line with approved test documentation in the factory test environment and at client sites. Provide technical supervision of installation works on client sites. Ensure work (installation, test & commissioning) is carried out in line with agreed technical procedures, methods, and standards. Collate and manage the project commissioning file. Mark-up drawings and schematics where changes are identified through test and commissioning activities. Involvement in the creation and preparation of commissioning/test documentation. Deploy configuration files to SCADA BCU’s, RTU’s, IED’s, etc., and Network devices (Ethernet Switches, etc.) including subsequent verification. Prepare site materials/commissioning spares/test documentation before project delivery on site. Skills: Suitably qualified or experienced in an Electrical Engineering discipline Good understanding of Test/Commissioning techniques Experience in fault finding on electrical/electronic systems Understanding of communication networks and differing communication protocols and media types (i.e., Ethernet over fibre optic, serial copper, etc.) Knowledge of electrical safety and the control of isolations (LOTO) Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation production Experience in the deployment of configuration files & verification to electrical devices Excellent communication skills Highly motivated & methodical individual Ability to lead or work as part of a team Software/Tools: Microsoft Office Suite SCADA Systems AutoCAD (for minor changes/navigation of drawings) Certifications & Standards: Hold a current full driving licence (UK or be able to easily convert to full UK) Additional certifications such as BS7671 18th Edition, C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing, and National Grid Commissioning Passport are desirable
