We're looking for a Rental Income Support Officer to join our client's team.
This role is responsible for managing rent accounts, engaging with residents, and maximising rental income through early intervention and support.
Key Details:
1. Temporary role for 12 weeks
2. Full-time, 35 hours per week
3. Rates: £23.20 ph PAYE / Umbrella rate TBC
Your Role:
1. Manage a portfolio of rent accounts, ensuring payments are received on time.
2. Engage with residents to discuss their rent payments, answer queries, and provide financial advice.
3. Implement early intervention strategies to reduce arrears and sustain tenancies.
4. Ensure compliance with council policies, statutory regulations, and court pre-action protocols.
5. Liaise with external agencies, including debt advice services, credit unions, and social care teams, to support residents.
6. Prepare instructions for Court Officers regarding possession hearings and stay hearings.
7. Work with Universal Credit claimants to ensure housing costs are appropriately managed.
8. Support vulnerable residents by making appropriate referrals to welfare benefit officers or support agencies.
9. Monitor rent accounts and generate reports to track income and arrears trends.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience in income management, housing rent collection, or financial support services.
2. Strong understanding of housing benefit, Universal Credit, and income recovery processes.
3. Excellent communication and negotiation skills to engage with residents effectively.
4. Ability to work independently and manage multiple caseloads.
5. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in housing management systems and Microsoft Office.
