Role: Social Worker & Senior Social Worker – Supporting Disabled Children Service

Salary: £41,094 – £57,127 per annum

Exciting new opportunity to join the Supporting Disabled Children Service as a dedicated and experienced Social Worker or Senior Social Worker in Wandsworth. This specialist team provides high-quality, person-centred support to children and young people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and complex health needs, ensuring they receive the right services to thrive and reach their potential.
As a Social Worker or Senior Social Worker, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of disabled children and their families, developing tailored care plans, and ensuring effective safeguarding interventions. You will work closely with families, education, health, and multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated support that promotes well-being, independence, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake comprehensive social work assessments to identify the needs of disabled children and their families.
* Develop personalised care and support plans, ensuring they meet the child’s individual needs and aspirations.
* Work in partnership with families, education, health, and other professionals to ensure an integrated approach to care and support.
* Identify safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action to protect children from harm.
* Participate in child protection conferences, CIN (Child in Need) meetings, and Looked After Child (LAC) reviews.
* Ensure all interventions are in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 and relevant safeguarding policies.
* Work collaboratively with health, education, therapy, and voluntary sector organisations to provide holistic support.
* Contribute to Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children with SEND.
* Advocate for children and families, ensuring they receive appropriate short breaks, respite care, and other essential services.
* Ensure all social work practice complies with relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Care Act 2014, and SEND Code of Practice.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, assessments, and reports.
* As a Senior Social Worker, provide mentoring, supervision, and guidance to junior staff, helping to develop their skills and confidence.

What We’re Looking For:
* Degree in Social Work (or equivalent)
* Registration with Social Work England
* Social Worker: Post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, disability services, or safeguarding
* Senior Social Worker: Extensive experience in complex case management, risk assessment, and mentoring junior staff
* Strong knowledge of legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
* Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multi-agency environment.
