Overview:
Boots is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Omni & Retail Media to lead our consumer media agenda and oversee the Boots Media Group (BMG). This role is pivotal in driving our omnichannel, consumer-centric media strategy, leveraging insights and first-party data to deliver high-performing marketing campaigns to drive business growth.
You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing media strategies, campaigns, and initiatives.
Our ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, the ability to develop relationships with media partners, and a deep understanding of different media channels.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement an integrated omnichannel media strategy that aligns with Boots' overall business objectives and enhances brand presence and sales performance across all relevant media platforms.
2. Boots Media Group (BMG) Oversight: Lead and manage BMG, ensuring it operates as a full-service retail media agency for our supplier brands. This includes campaign planning, creative development, and robust measurement to maximize ROI. Along with the management of our key supplier relationships within BMG and the need for ownership of key infrastructural projects to support the growth of BMG.
3. Consumer-Centric Approach: Drive a consumer-centric media agenda, focusing on creating personalised and authentic interactions that resonate with our customer base.
4. Data-Driven Insights: Utilise Boots' rich first-party data and customer insights to inform media strategies and optimise campaign performance. Monitoring and analysing the performance of advertising campaigns and making necessary adjustments for optimisation.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, digital, and retail, to ensure cohesive and effective media campaigns to ensure the alignment of the media strategy with the brand goals.
6. Innovation and Adaptability: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating innovative solutions to enhance media effectiveness and customer engagement.
7. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of media professionals across planning, performance, analytics, and partnerships. Fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This includes the internally managed and insourced Performance Marketing team covering PPC, paid social, and affiliates.
8. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including external media partners, to drive collaborative success and mutual growth.
9. Performance Metrics: Monitor and enhance key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of media strategies and campaigns, ensuring continuous improvement and accountability.
10. Budget Management: Oversee the media budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI and achieve strategic goals.
11. Digital Transformation: Lead digital transformation initiatives to enhance media capabilities and drive innovation in media planning and execution. Staying abreast of industry trends and advancements in technology to identify new media opportunities.
12. Agency Management: Proactively manage the relevant agency relationships effectively and efficiently to ensure all key goals are achieved (e.g. WPP for media and SMG for BMG and retail media).
13. Media Owner Relationships: Proactively manage the relationship with key media owners to ensure Boots and BMG remain front of the queue and ahead of other retailers for media innovation. Coordinating and negotiating with media sales representatives to secure optimal advertisement placements and deals.
Qualifications:
1. Proven experience in a senior media role, preferably within the retail sector.
2. Strong understanding of omnichannel media strategies and consumer behaviour.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a full-service media group or agency.
4. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making.
5. Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
7. Experience with digital media buying and planning, including programmatic, social, and search advertising.
8. Proficiency in media analytics tools and platforms.
9. Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
