We are looking for a motivated experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist with either rheumatology experience or transferable clinical skills.
You will be joining a friendly supportive Rheumatology Service based at the Queens Hospital Burton. We provide a full range of care from the assessment to treatment of all types of rheumatic disease including disorder of the joints, muscles, bones and tendons such as arthritis, connective tissue disease and degenerative joint disease.
We have a strong work ethic, supported by links with the radiology, neurophysiology, pathology and immunology departments to aid our diagnostic service.
We see patients with:
• Inflammatory arthritis
• Connective tissue disease
• Metabolic bone disease and osteoporosis
• Osteoarthritis & soft tissue problems
• Vasculitis
The Rheumatology Department at Queens Hospital Burton is a busy outpatient area offering a wide range of treatment and follow up care to people with rheumatological conditions.
We would like to appoint a Nurse Specialist to join our Nursing Team. You will be required to assess, advice and counsel patients who require treatment with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (including biological therapies).
You will be expected to deal with all abnormal blood results in relation to monitoring patients on disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs using the rheumatology database and other Trust IT systems. You will be required to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, carers and other health care professionals.
We offer an induction programme and support from members of the Rheumatology Team. In addition, we encourage all our staff to become members of the British Society for Rheumatology which offers additional training and national networking opportunities.
To be suitable for this post you will need the following:
• Rheumatology knowledge and experience, although we will consider motivated individuals with transferable skills.
• Confidence to assess counsel and treat patients with rheumatological conditions and to advise patients relatives and other health professionals.
• Excellent team working skills, excellent communication skills and good IT skills.
