An exciting opportunity has arisen in our busy and dynamic Audiology department. The team is looking to appoint 2 Audiology assistants to support the team in delivering high-quality Audiology care.

Main duties of the job
* Liaise with internal and external bodies (e.g. GPs, Consultants, and all other heads of department).
* Deal with patients with a disability and be the first line of contact for patients attending the department.
* Input details and patient information into Auditbase systems.
* Assist with hearing aid stock control and basic hearing aid repairs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Contact with patients for hearing aid repairs and ear mould impressions.
* Maintaining close contact with patients when examining ears, taking impressions, and inserting hearing aids.
* The post holder has to organise their own workload within a very busy department whilst ensuring the smooth running of all administration procedures including the processing of ear moulds, ordering, and management of stock.
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.

Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 in relevant subject or equivalent level of relevant experience.
Knowledge
* Background awareness of health care and clerical procedures.
* Knowledge of Patient Care System.
Skills
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good organisational skills.
* Motivated and enthusiastic with good IT skills.
* Ability to manage time effectively.
* Able to manage time effectively with good use of electronic patient management systems.
Experience
* Previous experience of working and communicating with hard of hearing or deaf patients.
