Job summary Are you and enthusiastic and dynamic Dietitian with excellent team working skills? An exciting opportunity has arisen to cover a maternity leave to join our team of 11 medical Dietitians at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. The successful candidate will carry a complex caseload of acute medical patients as well as supporting the team with expert knowledge and guidance in relation to complex nutritional support. This role is vital in implementing innovative pathways from the front door of the hospital as identifying patients at risk of malnutrition early is vital to improve outcomes throughout their admission. The post holder will be a team lead, working alongside another band 7 within the medical dietetic team, which is continually growing. The medical dietetic team cover a variety of inpatient specialities including stroke, respiratory, diabetes, acute medicine and elderly care. Due to the nature of the position there will be much scope to complete research, audit and showcase dietetics. The post holder will actively participate in development, education and delivery of training to dietetic staff, healthcare professionals and dietetic students. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will lead a small team of Dietitians and Dietetic Assistants, but you will be part of the larger Dietetic team at the QE Hospital of over 60 Dietitians covering various specialities. You will work closely with therapy and nursing colleagues, to develop the acute medical services and work closely with the Dietetic leads at UHB to continue to develop the dietetic service. You will be expected to operationally manage a team in a fast paced environment so good leadership is essential to this role. The successful individual will take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of a variety of complex patients so the applicant must have significant Dietetic experience within a range of specialities including enteral feeding, oral nutritional support and rehabilitation.
