Overview This is a key role responsible for shaping, overseeing and implementing a strategic vision for both certification and quality across the breadth of the business. Reporting directly to the Senior Leadership team, the Head of Quality and Certification will ensure all certification requirements are delivered in line with contractual obligations and business best practice, whilst simultaneously maintaining a robust quality culture and ethos within our manufacturing, engineering and operational functions. With support from a small team of quality and certification experts, and working closely with the Continuous Improvement team, this role will ensure quality benchmarks are met, existing accreditations are maintained, and new accreditations are achieved on time. Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Manage a small quality and certification team. Manage all certification compliance aspects for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Maintain a strong relationship with the certification body, the British Standards Institute, to gain insight and support for current best practises. Lead programs for the achievement of new management system certifications. Facilitator of external audits (including BSI audits, surveillance and recertification). Creation and maintenance of an internal audit program and associated processes. The selection and management of the internal audit team and associated training requirements. Prepare and chair related management reviews with the Senior Management team. Maintain the Legislative Register, Quality & Environmental Management System, ISO Standards Library, and Business Risk Register. Facilitate and support the creation and implementation of new processes and existing process improvements. Monitor environmental legislative compliance and drive internal ESG awareness. Lead energy benchmarking activities, support the sustainability roadmap and steer environmental workstreams. Provide support for bid and new business opportunities. Requirements: At least 5-years' experience managing a Quality and Certification function within a UK SME or larger. Demonstrable knowledge of business certification including a track record of implementing and maintaining accreditations. Ability to view the business from a holistic standpoint, assess requirements and formulate and execute a robust and achievable strategy. A strong communicator with an ability to pitch cogent and compelling narratives to stakeholders across the business, including senior management. Proven managerial skills, both with direct reports and in collaborative undertakings. A diplomatic and tenacious personality with a methodical and pragmatic approach. Experience of engineering and manufacturing environments; preferably within a technology or electronic component industry (although not a pre-requisite). Proficient in systems (Sharepoint, Jira, Confluence) and systems management.
