Main duties of the job
We are a collaborative, multidisciplinary team who aim to provide a values and evidence-based, NICE concordant package of care to our students. We actively seek to engage, assess, intervene, and support students in their mental health needs. As a psychologist or psychological therapist, helping our students to make sense of their experiences and progress in their recovery is challenging, fascinating, and rewarding work.
The students referred to our service all present with complex mental health needs often with ongoing risks. Common themes include histories of neglect and abuse through childhood and adulthood, drug/alcohol misuse, severe mental illness e.g. Bipolar Disorder and psychosis, and current self-harm/suicidal ideation. They are frequently exhibiting symptoms associated with complex trauma presentations including difficulties with attachments and emotional regulation.
