Fit Out UK are an industry leading interior fit out and logistics service provider. We work with a broad range of blue chip Clients across the retail, hospitality, banking and commercial sectors. We are looking for a dynamic Quantity Surveyor / Intermediate to join our team based out of office in West London. The ideal candidate will have some experience or exposure to mechanical and electrical elements of projects and will be instrumental in helping the team manage costs and contracts throughout the entire project lifecycle. Responsibilities include overseeing refit schemes and rollout projects, with durations ranging from single-day assignments to larger projects lasting up to six weeks. Project values will vary from tens of thousands to approximately £1 million. Your duties will encompass the full project scope, from inception to completion. This includes measuring, scoping, and tendering at the start, appointing subcontractors, managing, and reporting on progress, handling payments for both subcontractors and clients, and finalising all accounts upon project completion. Main responsibilities. · Lead / Assist with the quantity surveying function for assigned projects, including cost estimation, cost control, and contract management. · Attend and participate in scoping visits and survey meetings as required. · Develop detailed cost plans for all projects and ensure comprehensive handover to the project team. · Engage in pre-start meetings to ensure a robust program that aligns with the detailed cost plan. · Liaise with the Client Project Quantity Surveyor/Cost Manager. · Handle subcontractor inquiries. · Conduct subcontractor cost analysis. · Provide support to the Commercial Manager. · Place subcontractor orders under agreed contractual terms. · Offer commercial advice, guidance, and support to the Project Manager and delivery teams. · Prepare budget costings and bills of quantities. · Manage multiple projects simultaneously. · Produce CVR reports, provide commentary on movements, and update on risks and opportunities. · Ensure project compliance with the commercial requirements of the contract. · Ensure risks are back-to-back/passed down to sub-contractors. · Undertake client and subcontractor valuations. · Maximise the contract's cash position and provide cash flow forecasting. · Prepare and submit final accounts. · Approve payments to subcontractors. · Track and capture customer variations and challenge subcontractor final accounts. · Participate in lessons learned and post-contract reviews to provide continual improvement to the business. Knowledge/experience required. · A minimum of 1-2 years spent in a similar capacity within the construction industry, ideally with a main contractor or subcontractor. · Good sound knowledge of commercial and construction contracts and contractual arrangements. · Experience of working with schedule of rates and / or frameworks. · Preferred background in retail fit-out / construction - and M&E elements
