We are currently seeking motivated, enthusiastic, and seasoned Anaesthetic and Recovery practitioners to fortify our esteemed team at Chorley Hospital. We are in search of individuals whose caring and compassionate nature is matched by an unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care, coupled with the versatility to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
You will be either a registered Nurse with substantial Anaesthetic experience or an accomplished Operating Department Practitioner (ODP). As a prospective Team Leader, you will spearhead our vibrant Anaesthetic and Recovery teams, demanding not just competence but an innate flair for leadership.
You bring extensive experience in the realms of anaesthetics or Recovery, along with an insatiable drive and enthusiasm for ushering in change and championing innovative ideas. You will possess outstanding communication, influencing, and leadership skills, thriving effortlessly in the fast-paced ambiance of a dedicated team.
Main duties of the job
We seek committed and flexible individuals who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have outstanding clinical skills. You must be an effective communicator and hold great organisational skills. As an experienced Anaesthetic & Recovery practitioner, you will demonstrate excellent knowledge, skills and be proactive and visible in order to build and form good relationships with your team and with the wider MDT.
In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of theatres and be required to coordinate the elective service provision by working collaboratively with anaesthetists, clinicians and the ward in providing effective management of elective surgery.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Assist and support the Clinical Manager in the safe and effective management of the service including management of staff, facilities and associated systems and processes.
* Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.
* Acts as a role model presenting a positive image of self, the team and the organisation.
* Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, making optimal use of operating sessions.
* Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
* Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Participate in education and training of junior staff encouraging professional growth and development.
* Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice.
Person specification
Qualifications & Education
* Registered nurse / ODP with current NMC/ HCPC registration
* Evidence of current and continuing professional development
* Minimum of 12 months experience in Anaesthetics
* Degree in related health care area
* Level 3 ILM (Institute of leadership and Management) or equivalent.
Knowledge & Experience
* Awareness of changes in practice and the ability to implement change.
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
* Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
* Knowledge of escalation and cancellation processes
* Knowledge of Leadership and Management
* Experience of budgetary management
* Research and Development
