About the role The Neighbourhood Renewal Team responds to the impacts of disadvantage in older established neighbourhoods. They do this through deep place-based engagement, tailored programming and cultural development with residents experiencing hardship. The Neighbourhood Renewal Project Officer is a generalist position that supports the planning and ‘hands-on’ delivery of projects across the Neighbourhood Renewal Program. These projects respond to needs identified through community engagement, and might include place-making projects, arts and cultural programs, and projects that support residents to have a voice in Council decision making. Projects and programs may change over time to respond to community needs. The Neighbourhood Renewal Projects Officer sits in the Community Resilience team in the City Activation, Community and Place Department. In a Local Government Area experiencing exponential growth, this department works collaboratively to ensure everyone lives well and thrives. This is a community-facing role that is expected to meet operational demands when balancing hours between office, on site and other locations in accordance with Council’s Finding Balance Policy and other relevant policies and procedures. Essential Completed or in the last year of tertiary studies in social sciences (social work, community services, arts and/or cultural development), community development events or an arts related field. A passion for creative work that focuses on processes that deliver positive impact and social justice. Confident verbal communicator and an ability to write for a range of audiences. Active contributor to a positive team culture. Demonstrated time management and organisational skills. Desirable Voluntary or paid experience in creative, cultural or community projects. Interest in participatory democracy and how communities influence decision-making. Experience participating in or working with diverse communities, including those experiencing hardship. Experience in a customer facing or hospitality work environment. Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $$71,960 to $83,296 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation, and will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.
