Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a dynamic and enriching outdoor environment? We are seeking a dedicated Outdoor SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team at our partner school in Exeter. You must be able to speak Ukrainian, as you will be supporting a Ukrainian-speaking student.
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary to Permanent
Hours: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm (Monday to Friday)
Pay: £90.00 - £100 per day (based on experience)
About our Partner School:
Teaching Personnel’s partner school in Exeter provides an alternative, nature-based education for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers a hands-on, outdoor learning environment where students engage in practical activities, fostering resilience, confidence, and personal growth. With a focus on emotional well-being and skill development, the school supports students in building independence and preparing for future opportunities.
Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one support to a child with SEN during outdoor activities and learning sessions
• Communicate and support in Ukrainian to ensure the child feels safe, understood, and included
• Assist in planning and adapting activities to meet the individual needs of the child
• Foster positive relationships with the child, their family, and other team members
• Monitor and record the child’s progress and development, communicating effectively with relevant stakeholders
• Always ensure the safety and well-being of the child during outdoor activities
What We're Looking for:
• Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in an educational or outdoor setting is desirable but not essential
• Fluent in Ukrainian – this is essential
• Understanding of different learning needs and the ability to adapt support accordingly
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents
• Passion for outdoor education and a commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity
• Relevant qualifications or willingness to undergo training as required
