Required to fill two posts within the Radiology Department at the Leeds General Infirmary/Chapel Allerton Hospital.
The successful applicants should possess FRCR (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in MSK Radiology and its related subspecialties. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.
There is an expectation for out of hours work (programmed weekend work).

Main duties of the job
The posts are for 2x specialist Consultant Radiologists in Musculoskeletal Radiology. The applicants will undertake all aspects of diagnostic and interventional MSK Radiology including MRI, CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and plain radiographic reporting. The responsibilities include specialist MSK MDT cover. There is an expectation to be adept in the reporting of complex MSK imaging, including spinal trauma and sarcoma imaging. The successful applicant will join a team of 8 expert MSK Radiologists.

OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
The post holders skills in MSK radiology will complement and support the current demand on the service to deliver care to patients with MSK radiology needs at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust including:
1. Care of patients through specialist diagnostic and interventional procedures
2. Contribute to specialist multi-disciplinary team meetings
3. Supervision of trainee medical staff
4. Collaborate with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams within the Radiology CSU and across the Trust.
5. Contribute to research, teaching and new developments within the department. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programs ongoing in the department.
6. Contribute to formal specialist trainee teaching within the Yorkshire Radiology Academy.
7. Contribute to the clinical supervision and training of specialist trainees and clinical fellows in MSK and interventional radiology.
8. There will be a requirement to attend and lead multi-disciplinary meetings, contribute to audit and assist non-medical staff in their roles in the department.

Essential
* Should have completed a recognised training programme in Clinical Radiology.
* Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
* Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
Desirable
* Fellowship training in MSK.
* Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
* Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.

* Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice. YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION FORM TO BE CONSIDERED.

* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in diagnostic and interventional MSK radiology.

* Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Desirable
* Experience of complex MSK intervention (vertebroplasty, ablation techniques).
