Quantity Surveyor Job Role
Our client is a specialist finishes contractor who has been at the forefront of the construction industry for the last 25 years. As a well-established, innovative, and expanding business working in various sectors such as Rail, Commercial, Residential, and Aviation, our projects are nationwide.
We offer services which range from the design and installation of specialist floors, walls, and tiling through to ancillary works and minor building works.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established specialist contractor to work on fast-paced and diverse projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the QS will work as part of the wider commercial team.
2. Individually managing several projects which can range from £100k to £4m, including working alongside the Project Manager to deliver the contract from Contract Award to Completion.
3. Overseeing and delivering the financial and commercial targets whilst ensuring that best practice is employed.
4. Carrying out monthly completion of cost reports which are reported to the Commercial Manager for the completion of the main Cost Value Reconciliation Report.
5. Ensuring the maximisation of profit and drafting of your project's cash flow with the Commercial Manager.
6. Monthly presenting and agreeing the external valuation with the Client's representative.
7. Assisting the Project Manager in the procurement of materials.
8. Attending Pre-Start meetings for projects, ensuring all contractual elements are secured correctly as per our tender submission.
9. Conducting weekly project reviews with senior management.
10. Processing weekly record sheets to ensure items such as contract changes or delays have been captured.
11. Working closely with the PM to complete all project administration.
12. Regular site visits to monitor progress.
13. Keeping adequate records for valuing variations and ascertaining loss and/or expense.
14. Advising senior management on delays, extensions of time, and loss and/or expense, and ensuring relevant notices are issued.
15. Calculating material quantities and costs, labour costs, and an achievable project timeframe.
16. Managing payments and ensuring payments are chased when due.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Quantity Surveying Degree or equivalent qualification.
2. Demonstrable experience in construction cost management.
3. Knowledge of NEC 3 and 4 (Option A) and JCT Design and Build.
4. Ability to cost variations throughout the project.
5. Fully knowledgeable in office applications and advanced Excel.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills.
7. Confident negotiator.
8. Ability to work within a team.
Package:
1. Competitive salary of £55k - £60k depending on experience.
2. Bonus subject to the performance of the business.
