About this role
As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer you will work as part of the Tech Delivery organisation supporting the engineering and continued development of a growing AWS cloud footprint within Capital One. As a contributor to a focused Core Infrastructure delivery team you will ensure the 'infrastructure as code' approach, looking to automate as much as possible and drive efficient working practices as the growth of our Cloud platform continues. Our Cloud Engineers are responsible for complex problem resolution, and we frequently find ourselves working with geographically dispersed teams and massively integrated systems to identify root cause and resolve issues.
What you’ll do
1. Deliver core infrastructure from code that the rest of our line of business depends on
2. Continued support, maintenance and development of our core systems, enhancing our internal Customers’ journeys on their path to CI/CD
3. Enhance our AWS account design, deployment and validation mechanisms
4. Design, develop and maintain high quality Core Infrastructure services
5. Work collaboratively across teams spanning multiple time zones
What we’re looking for
6. Someone with previous experience as a software engineer or infrastructure engineer
7. Experience of developing and managing API’s using Java & Springboot.
8. Familiarity with the concepts of infrastructure as code, test driven development and automated deployment of infrastructure solutions
9. Strong scripting and automation skills in various languages (such as Python, Ruby, BASH, Powershell and similar)
10. Solid understanding of Cloud / Virtual Compute platforms and their supporting infrastructure, including Full OS Machine Image and Container creation and management
11. Strong understanding of High Availability strategies, preferably with Cloud in mind
12. Good communicator, willing to share and teach amongst peers
What you’ll get to learn (any experience would be advantageous)
13. Good understanding of API's and Micro services architecture
14. Experience of modern application development (CICD pipelines etc)
15. Previous experience of delivering work for multiple stakeholders
16. Hands on experience in Amazon Web Services
17. Hands on experience of Puppet as a configuration management tool
18. Hands on experience of complex Jenkins pipelines
19. Agile software development methods and working as part of an Agile Team
20. A range of DevOps tooling, such as GitHub, Artifactory, Jenkins etc
21. Designing Enterprise solutions for core infrastructure
Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position and is based in our Nottingham office. We’ve adopted a flexible hybrid working model - one that creates the opportunity to work in your own way, but also provides great spaces for in-person collaboration.
We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
