We're on the hunt for a dedicated, passionate, and enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapist!
Join our team of social workers, support workers and make a positive impact on the lives of children, young people, and their families, within the 0-25 disability team. We are thrilled to offer a full-time, permanent contract for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist.
You will have the opportunity to work with children and young people (0-25), supporting them to achieve positive outcomes. This will involve working with a range of people, including social workers, support workers, education, health, housing, and private and voluntary organisations.
You will be using your clinical reasoning skills to recommend equipment and adaptations to reduce the impact of disability on daily living skills and to promote inclusivity.
An essential aspect of the role of the Senior Occupational Therapist in the team is to work preventatively by providing advice and strategies to parents and children regarding safety within the home environment and the community. This can often involve supporting families open to Families First.
Although we are seeking someone who has advanced skills, we would welcome applications from less experienced practitioners who are willing and keen to develop.
If you are a less experienced Occupational Therapist, we would support your development. You will gain greater experience in using a range of interventions, especially working on housing adaptation and the use of equipment to support safety, comfort, and independence.
You will be a pivotal part of the Disability (0-25) Team, having a high level of autonomy. You will receive monthly formal supervision from the Disability (0-25) Team Manager, informal supervision as needed, and team group reflection practice sessions. You will receive clinical supervision from an advanced OT practitioner to develop your clinical reasoning skills. You will also attend bi-monthly Pan Gwent SSD OT support group, which will provide you with additional opportunities to develop an OT support network.
About the role
We are a dedicated team committed to supporting children and young people (0-25) with disabilities, guiding them toward brighter futures. Our approach is centered on empowering families and carers, enhancing the lives of these individuals through personalised care and support. As a Senior Occupational Therapist with us, you'll be committed to delivering consistently high-quality services and driving positive outcomes for individuals.
You will assess and support children, young people (0-25), and families in a variety of settings including their home, schools, and communities. Your assessment will be outcome-focused, recommending and implementing interventions that are least restrictive to reduce the impact of disability and promote independence.
In order to achieve positive outcomes for children, young people, and families, you will be engaging with housing grant departments, health, education, and other disability and equipment services.
