What's the role?
The Project Co-ordinator is a highly organised, customer facing, professional and detail-oriented individual who will work in our Utility Services team. As the Project Co-ordinator you are responsible for the efficient delivery of utility infrastructure services to I & C customers across the UK.
You will be reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, the role involves the timely progression of all relevant administration tasks, including co-ordination / liaison with the customer, the DNO’s Energy Suppliers, Meter Operators, landowners and other third party stakeholders as necessary.
You will ensure that projects related to the development, maintenance, and upgrading of utility infrastructure are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
The Project Coordinator will act as the central point of contact for all project activities, collaborating with various stakeholders, managing schedules, and ensuring the timely delivery of utility services projects.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone to step into a department at the heart of SMS’s plans to grow into all the above sectors and support growth in the UK’s critical National Infrastructure.
40 contractual hours per week working at our Cardiff office, Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm.
Key responsibilities:
* Assist the Project Manager / Project Engineer in planning, executing, and delivering utility infrastructure projects. Maintain project documentation, progress reports and systems in real time.
* Coordinate project timelines and tasks to ensure timely delivery of our services. Monitor and track project progress, identifying any potential delays or issues.
* Act as a liaison between clients, DNO’s, Energy Suppliers, Meter Operators, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth communication and progress. Organise regular meetings and project updates with stakeholders, ensuring alignment on objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
* Occasionally attend client’s offices to deliver progress updates.
* Assist in managing operational finances by obtaining client PO’s and associated receipting in a timely manner.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and safety regulations throughout project lifecycle.
* Dealing with incoming data (via post, email etc) and processing internal enquiries and provide day-to-day administrative duties (filing, referencing, word processing etc).
* Be proactive in ensuring progress across all projects.
* Be responsive to customer enquiries and communicate progress to our customers in a professional, effective and timely manner.
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
* GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages.
* Organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
* Process / workflow management.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Excellent analytical problem solving.
* Utility Industry experience (desirable).
