We are currently looking for Catering Assistants to join our in-house Catering team on a permanent basis. This position is based mainly our Merchiston campus working 35 hours per week (with a range of daily 7 hour shifts between 7.30am – 5.30pm for our core business over Monday to Friday, with the expectation that hours may change with notice, and you may be asked to work at other campuses to meet the department’s needs. You will be asked to work weekend and or evening hours on occasion as this position will be a 5 over 7 days.
Our Property and Facilities team deliver a first-class service to over 1,500 staff and over 15,000 students across Edinburgh Napier University. We have a drive to continuously improve the service to both customers, staff, and visitors. We not only provide day catering for our students & staff but also cater for large business and hospitality events run within the University throughout the year.

The Role
As a Catering Assistant, you will provide excellent levels of customer care to a range of people within the University. Along with the service of food & drink to customers, you will be responsible for making barista coffee and required to operate EPOS tills which will involve considerable Transactions duties in a busy environment.
There will be times when you when you will be expected to assist with other general tasks such as hospitality deliveries and service, stock rotation, restaurant and coffee bar service which includes hot and cold food and cleaning.

Applicants must demonstrate:
• Experience within a busy catering environment would be useful
• Experience of EPOS Till systems
• Excellent communication skills
• The ability to work on your own initiative
• An understanding of health & safety regulations, ensuring you are complying with our policy and procedures to deliver the highest standards of food care and hygiene- Full induction and on-site training will be given
Additional Information
Salary: £22,728 - £25,433 + a flexibility incentive supplement of 3%
