This is an exciting opportunity to join an offshore law firm's office in Jersey as their Governance Legal Counsel. This integral position supports the Chief Legal Officer by providing legal and governance guidance across the firm. The role is ideal for a Lawyer who is prepared to take the lead on internal governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, and offer counsel to senior leadership.
Job Responsibilities:
* Acting as the lead governance representative within the in-house legal team with responsibility for the internal governance framework.
* Providing in-house governance support, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders in connection with specific governance projects.
* Assisting with the design and implementation of an enhanced internal governance framework across the law firm and business services.
* Providing governance support for their annual audit and professional indemnity insurance renewal.
* Organising and attending meetings and maintaining a schedule of meetings for all in-house boards and committees.
* Shaping structured and coherent agendas and planning for meetings so that all meeting packs are published on a timely basis.
* Drafting accurate and detailed minutes and proactively encourage progress from stakeholders on their action points.
* Assisting with the ongoing development of a suite of checklists, procedures, and guidance notes for routine company secretarial tasks and governance lifecycle events.
Key Attributes required:
* A qualified Lawyer with an understanding of corporate law is preferred, and in-house experience gained within a regulated environment would also be advantageous.
