We can accept part time applicants who can commit to working a minimum of 30 hours per week. Job description We are currently recruiting for a Senior Content Designer in our Web and Design Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced and highly motivated content designers who are enthusiastic about all forms of design and want to make a positive impact in helping to protect people from death, injury and ill-health. Our ambition is to produce a best-in-class web presence that delivers HSE guidance, content and services that meet user needs. The main focus for this role is on our work to create good guidance and services for building safety regulation. The role requires expert practitioners with deep content design experience who will define and assure content design best practice, making sure our content aligns to HSEs strategy and objectives, while meeting the needs of our users. You will work to develop an effective presence on gov.uk and iterate and improve the existing content on hse.gov.uk. You should have knowledge of Government Digital Service ways of working and design roles Responsibilities You will: Create and iterate user-centred content efficiently and to a high standard, managing multiple projects and adapting to changing priorities and deadlines, also agreeing clear targets and evaluation criteria to demonstrate impact. Present and negotiate with stakeholders to develop and agree briefs and schedules, also pitching concepts and solutions Mentor and support other designers to develop and produce better work Proof-read and quality assure content by undertaking 2i checks and making complex language and processes easy to understand. Use analytics, user feedback, and user research to evaluate and improve content as well as identifying emerging issues, trends and opportunities which might impact or benefit your work Build lasting relationships with stakeholders across projects and subject areas, influencing and collaborating with them to improve content quality, in addition to establishing and maintaining rapport with other user-centred design professionals in HSE and across-government. Create all forms of content and material, making sure it is accessible, for example designing: guidance on health and safety law; corporate strategies, plans and accounts; statutory and technical documents; and content and linked guidance in digital services, eg on building safety, iterating it to improve user experience. Person specification Essential Skills and Criteria You will have: Professional experience working in content design. Experience using analytics, user feedback, and user research to evaluate and improve content. Experience in mentoring or training teams in content design. Professional experience of working with Interaction Designers, Service Designers, Subject Experts and User Researchers. Demonstrated the ability to translate complex, technical policy concepts into simple, clear ideas. This post can be based in any of the advertised locations however, the team is based in our Bootle office, and there is the expectation that you will attend the Bootle office at least once per week or as per business needs.
