Job Title: Progression Coach - Intensive Support
Reports to: Team Leader
Salary: Scale 6 – Point 26-28, £26,229 - £27,982 per annum, pro rata
Hours of work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
*12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT*
Service Delivery:
* Participate in the delivery of services to young people, including needs, risk, and vulnerability assessments, developing support and risk management plans, and leading/participating in case review and multi-agency meetings.
* Develop support and risk management plans using assessment tools such as the Outcome Star.
* Ensure a non-judgmental, person-centred, and trauma-informed approach, utilizing various engagement strategies.
* Work with young people with complex needs to help them sustain tenancies and improve their lives.
* Develop and deliver life and social skills programmes, facilitating young people's participation in their support plans.
* Support young people in voicing their opinions and participating in activities and events.
* Assist young people to engage with work and learning, build support networks, maintain accommodation, and address arising issues.
* Mediate to foster positive relationships with family and friends and expand support networks.
* Ensure young people feel supported and encourage engagement with internal and external services.
* Provide psychologically informed environments in our services.
* Support young people in undertaking the St Basils life skills programme, achieving qualifications, and maintaining education, training, and employment.
* Establish links with training providers, employers, and volunteering networks to improve access to opportunities.
* Organize and accompany young people to appointments, advocating on their behalf where necessary.
* Prepare young people for move-on accommodation and offer ongoing support.
* Be available for regular support sessions and crisis response.
* Maintain safeguarding standards for young people's welfare.
* Keep accurate records of support plans, incidents, and complaints.
* Identify and develop local services and community links to support young people's development.
* Coordinate interventions from other agencies to provide timely support.
* Assist in preparing accommodation, including setting up starter packs and cleaning.
* Deliver structured, outcome-focused support to prevent and respond to crises.
* Support young people in transitioning to independent living and accessing move-on accommodation.
* Lead and manage activities for young people.
* Manage a caseload of young people with complex needs, prioritizing and managing risks independently.
Housing Services:
A portion of your role will involve delivering housing-related services, including:
* Maximizing young people's incomes through benefit claims and supporting rent and bill payments.
* Helping young people manage debts and rent accounts.
* Educating young people on their rights and responsibilities.
* Supporting property maintenance and management.
* Leading resident consultations and property inspections.
* Carrying out health and safety tests, managing repairs, and supporting property lettings.
* Managing incidents of anti-social behaviour and encouraging positive choices.
* Assisting with setting up utility accounts and understanding payment responsibilities.
* Supporting the recharge process for damages caused by young people.
Qualifications:
Essential:
* GCSE English and Maths – C Grade or above, or equivalent
* NVQ Level 3 in Care, Advice & Guidance, or a relevant/equivalent qualification (or willingness to work towards)
Desirable:
* Youth or Social Work Degree
Role Experience:
Essential:
* Experience working with young people in settings such as Youth Work, Residential, Social Work, Probation, Community Work, Education, or Housing.
* Experience delivering services through payment-by-outcome models (PBO or PBR).
* Experience working with young people with complex needs.
* Experience in safeguarding vulnerable children, young people, or adults.
Knowledge:
Essential:
* Up-to-date knowledge of welfare rights and relevant legislation.
* Knowledge of housing legislation.
* Understanding of children, adults, and care acts.
* Awareness of the needs of young people experiencing homelessness.
* Knowledge of support services such as Mental Health, Social Care, Substance Misuse, CSE, and County Lines.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of Ofsted supported accommodation requirements.
* Understanding of Housing Benefit, UC rent systems.
* Knowledge of mental health, domestic abuse, drug and alcohol legislation, and homelessness laws.
