Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Head Knitwear Designer at Brodie Cashmere. The role involves creating mood boards, trend research, fitting, knitting, and sketching for cashmere knitwear designs, along with day-to-day management of the design team, critical path, and budget.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Management of the design and tech department (team of 4) to create seasonal collections for 2 brands through the full design process cycle (research, prototype, SMS, and bulk) and assisting key retailers with private label brand development.
* Ensuring Critical Path and design deadlines are met across the department.
* Following the design process from research stage through to SMS and bulk sign-off, designing and creating an inspiring and commercial, sales-driven range that is suitable for each brand, having regard to sales and trade reports.
* Forecasting and managing the budget for design.
* Presenting concepts (including mood, trend, and colour) and designs to the management team.
* Creating and managing design packs for the factories, including technical design specs suitable for overseas factories.
* Working closely with factories and the production team to ensure smooth and timely garment production.
* Collaborating with sales and marketing.
* Researching the latest trends in knitwear, print, and colour from multiple sources, helping to identify key shapes and techniques for the upcoming season.
* Managing the design team and assisting with their professional development.
Qualifications
* Strong experience in Women's Knitwear/Design roles (4+ years).
* Previous experience in a growing SME business with team management experience preferable.
* Ability to CAD with advanced Illustrator & Photoshop skills.
* Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent.
* Technical garment knowledge.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Factory & production experience.
* Strong presentation and communication skills.
* Highly organised, proactive individual who is able to manage several projects simultaneously.
* Strong drive to work for a growing brand/adaptable to day-to-day tasks.
