As the first line of defence, Control Management prevents, detects, and monitors operational, regulatory, and reputational risks. In support of our mandate, we maintain a strong and consistent control environment through a joint accountability model that aligns the team with the line of business to mitigate the operational and other risks. We also play a pivotal role in educating the business teams whilst acting in an advisory role. The Governance team owns and implements the governance framework for the International Consumer Banking (ICB) and Strategic Growth Office; it has responsibility for regulatory, business or strategic governance programs and initiatives that arise; and the provision of Board and LOB related reporting and analytics. The Governance team works in close partnership with the business areas and functions aligned to ICB, the Strategic Growth Office and the broader firm. This role will require someone who works well within a team, someone who is a self-starter, with strong attention to detail who thrives in a dynamic growing, fluid business. In support of corporate requirements, and in accordance with local business requirements, the Governance VP will work closely with senior management to establish and maintain the end-to-end ICB/Strategic Growth Office Governance framework. Responsibilities: Support specific reporting requirements for relevant Legal Entity Boards and LOB Control Committees and forums, this may involve taking appropriate minutes, action tracking and follow up. Support for specific governance related projects and initiatives (this may be LOB or regulatory required) Coordinating the development of appropriate metrics and reporting to ensure adequate visibility and transparency across ICB/Strategy Growth Office Active participant in relevant ICB/Strategic Growth Office governance forums and committees Manage data collation and timely reporting for relevant Board reports, and materials in accordance with strict deadlines. Review topics for governance focus, financial analysis for status and ensuring a month-on-month trending view is supplied. Reviewing internal material from functions and LOB areas to identify potential topics for inclusion at governance to drive improvements to risk management for the region. Partner with various functions and senior management Participate in deep dives on key themes and trends to bring topics to governance as needed. Develop and build a strong network of internal stakeholder relationships in support of delivering key ICB governance materials. Continuous review and development of governance processes to provide opportunities for improvements in efficiency. Provide secretariat support, including planning, organising and follow ups in line with regulator or Governance requests as and when required. Skills/ Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Experience in financial services industry with background in governance, controls, regulatory, risk, audit, quality assurance, finance or compliance preferred Proactive, self-starter able to consistently deliver work of a high standard whilst under pressure, comfortable working independently in a dynamic and challenging environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a commanding and convincing delivery and the ability to present information in differing degrees of detail and form depending on audience Strong skills in time management with the ability to manage complex work plans, conflicting priorities and the ability to multi-task when required. Strong relationship building and influencing skills and ability to engage with senior management.
