At Broadridge, we've built a culture where the highest goal is to empower others to accomplish more. If you’re passionate about developing your career, while helping others along the way, come join the Broadridge team.
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the development of our deployment platform. This platform underpins the deployment and management of our Global Trading Platform that delivers both single and multi-region trading capabilities to traders around the world.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience deploying containerized applications to production with either Docker Swarm or Kubernetes, as well as engineering experience to develop tools and technologies to help manage, monitor, and operate such systems at global scale.
About You
You are an experienced engineer who has helped deliver many complex projects through their career, likely starting in a hands-on coding role.
You are naturally curious, wanting to better understand how technology operates “under the hood” to the point where you often identify and implement improvements in technologies you don’t directly own, such as open source or other teams’ projects.
You take pride in your work, taking full ownership and accountability for the changes you own, and even if not your area of responsibility, you are able to work with others to ensure the whole solution is delivered, not just your part.
Having a thirst for knowledge, you keep up to date with the latest technology trends, with a particular focus on DevOps and perhaps the Cloud and CNCF landscapes. You see a Senior DevOps role as the next stepping stone in your career, as well as the opportunity to help use your experience to help grow the next generation of engineers.
Responsibilities
1. A “hands-on” engineering role, leading the development of our Global Deployment Platform;
2. Build tools and technologies to allow teams to deploy, monitor, and operate our trading software;
3. Work with our partner teams in SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) to identify operational improvements that can be made to better automate the delivery, management, and monitoring of our trading systems;
4. Collaborate with our infrastructure and networking teams to automate the delivery of new systems to host both our customer facing and internal applications;
5. Work with development and QA teams in different regions to support the building, testing, and deployment pipelines;
6. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team, ensuring both company and industry best practice is adhered to;
7. Write high quality documentation to explain how to install, run and operate the technology solutions you build.
Requirements
8. Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, or related field);
9. 5+ years of experience in DevOps roles;
10. Experience deploying containerized platforms using Docker Swarm or Kubernetes;
11. Experiencing designing, implementing, and maintaining Continuous Integration and Deployment pipelines in technologies such as Jenkins, Circle CI, Team City, Bamboo;
12. Proficiency in Python, Go, Bash, or similar language;
13. Familiarity with source control systems (e.g. git, perforce);
14. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
15. Excellent communication skills with a high level of English proficiency;
16. Excellent teamwork skills, with experience coaching more junior team members.
17. Knowledge of financial markets and/or financial technologies (e.g., FIX protocol, etc.);
18. Background as a backend software engineer, with 3+ years’ experience in either Java or C++;
19. Experience working with Cloud providers (e.g. AWS (Amazon Web Services), GCP (Google Cloud Platform), Azure);
20. Familiarity with infrastructure provisioning tools such as Ansible and Terraform;
21. Experience working with and implementing monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. Prometheus/Grafana/Data Dog/PagerDuty);
22. Experience (professional or otherwise) with React, Vue, or other web technologies;
23. Experience leading and organizing the work for a team is desirable.
Note: A coding test will be undertaken as part of the interview process; it is expected you have sufficient expertise in one of the listed languages to be able to pass this test.
