The Opportunity:
The Reinforced Concrete (RC) Modelling team is an integral part of the Explore Manufacturing Design Centre, established to provide end to end leadership and best practice in pre-cast design and engineering, throughout the full design process. This role is to ensure all manufacturing information is created and released into the facility in accordance with latest Eurocodes, British standards, Detailing Standards and Manufacturing Modelling Guidance Documentation. The Assistant Reinforcement Engineer role is required on all Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DfMA) Projects. Working under the guidance of the Senior Precast Engineer, you will be liaising with structural consulting Engineers, DfMA engineers and the Precast production team to provide manufacturing information in 2D and 3D.
What will the role look like?
Design Development:
* Assist the bid team with the production of tender stage modelling options to assess design intent and product viability.
* Take an innovative approach in determining the best solution for engineering problems, that deliver efficiencies and savings in carbon and material.
* Assist in the review of project modelling, drawing and metadata specifications including incoming software compatibility from stage 3 design reports.
DPF Stage 4.0 design:
* Assist in the review project specifications to be aware of designs which are considerate of the structural frame requirements.
* Assist in the review of panel design and movement and ensure this is considerate of interfacing elements.
* Be aware of the lifting, handling, storage and transport requirement of the product and ensure these are captured in the structural design load cases.
* Have an understanding of the capabilities and constraints of all manufacturing plants and equipment for the manufacture of precast concrete.
* Understand the reasons for value engineering in determining the best product design solutions.
* Part of the team to develop products that perform structurally to meet client requirements and manufacturing constraints.
